I am daily inspired by this view of the American River, looking westward as I cross the Watt Avenue Bridge by car or bicycle. This view is during ongoing drought conditions. I had a much different view during the flood of 1986, when the river nearly breached the levee. Her moods are variable, but this native resident treasures the Jewel of Sacramento.
