I was asked to do a demo on shadows and this is what came out of the session. The reference photo had many roses but I only wanted a single rose so that the emphasis would be on the rose and the shadow. The roses were red and I chose to make mine white. It was also one of the few times where I did not do a colour study but it worked because I could see the finished piece before I started. That happens occasionally. I used almost every pastel I had and some pastel pencils to complete this.
