The painting was from a photograph I took of my two oldest boys on a visit to Yosemite in 1988. It was mid summer and the Merced River was perfect for them to cool off. The photo itself remains one of my favourites of the two boys, and I had long wanted to paint it. It wasn’t until I discovered pastels in February of this year that I felt I could do it some justice.
